At Tampa International Airport, transformation demands precision. When Airside E expanded to accommodate next-generation TSA screening, enhanced traveler comfort, and increased circulation, Sol Design Studio and Voltair were entrusted to reimagine three high-visibility retail environments, each positioned at critical passenger decision points into one unified concession. Our architectural and engineering teams collaborated seamlessly to thread a new central corridor through existing Intunes/Air Essentials and Booklink spaces, integrating advanced security systems while preserving operational continuity above Customs and secure zones below.
Circulation now flows on all sides, with strategic sightlines capturing passengers exiting TSA, traversing the concourse, or seated nearby.
The challenge extended beneath the floor, with complex infrastructure, restricted back-of-house access, and stringent coordination adjacent to active security checkpoints. Through precise integration of architecture, engineering, and brand strategy, we delivered dynamic, performance-driven retail environments. Integrated graphics and digital monitors elevate visibility, celebrate local products, and provide streamlined amenities for today’s traveler. Each storefront complements the next, creating a cohesive retail ecosystem designed for engagement, operational efficiency, and long-term commercial success.
