Aileron Golf Club at Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor
The client engaged Sol Design Studio (Sol) to help create a new language for the Entertainment venues for the Sunseeker brand which was building their first hotel complex in Charlotte Harbour. Sol worked with the Hotel branding elements and created a new Brand for this Golf & Event complex which Sol also developed. The Golf course and Facilities were designed to meet and host a PGA-rated event and have the ability to expand its events. The course and its adjoining interior and exterior venues needed to be flexible to handle a 50-person corporate event or a multiple thousand-person Golf tournament.
The Clubhouse design combined many different aspects of the sunseeker brand including the 50’ Aviation Modernism that harkens back to Eero Saarinen’s TWA terminal in New York. The clubhouse design incorporates playful elements that combine aviation and golf with the restaurant soffit airplane wing, to the flying canopies alluding to flight.
The luxe clubhouse includes the Aviators Club, a full-service restaurant & bar and a pro shop featuring premium golf brands, as well as an area for Aileron merchandise only available at the course. The clubhouse design accommodates the lush men’s and women’s locker rooms with saunas, a covered outdoor dining area, and two open-air grassy patios for special events, all overlooking the eighteenth hole.
